Today, bean bags can be filled with fur, vinyl, velvet, tie dyes, cotton and many other materials. Some are filled with many little styropor bits or beads. Most bean bags can seat one person only, but there are also bigger sizes for two or three persons to sit on at the same time.
When many people visualize a traditional décor, they think of large, formal dining rooms and sitting rooms. A fully skirted, richly upholstered parsons chair does look positively regal! However, traditional parsons chairs can be adapted for more casual environments as well. These designs are timeless and elegant, rarely going out of fashion. Traits of traditional parsons style chairs include wooden legs in deep, classic finishes such as cherry, walnut, mahogany and dark oak. The legs are often in the "s-curved" Queen Anne style-- also called cabriole legs - or in the bolder Chippendale style. The chair backs are generally scrolled, crescent or camel shape, giving them a touch more formality. Traditional parsons chairs can be fully skirted, with triple or box pleats for a fancier look.
Armless chairs - These chairs are more modern and elegant. Imagine a typical upholstered chair but without the arms. Armless chairs have a cushion seat and back. Some styles will have a curve to the back while others are just a straight back. Most armless chairs have visible legs with finished wood.
Tub Chairs - This chair has a semi-circular back with curved arms. To visualize, think of half a bath tub that has been upholstered and given legs. The back and arms are one continuous piece with the seat cushion have the option of being attached or detachable. These also have the option of being made with a swivel base if someone wants that added luxury.
